29 months now and I am one step closer to being completely potty trained. I am totally "diaper Free" during the day. I always tell someone when I need to go to the potty (when Mom or Dad’s not around , there’s Vic, my Nanny, or Mamila, my Grandma). I like to wear my Barney panties, they’re so nice. What latest though, is that I used to wear diapers when I go to bed but sometime early this month, Mom took it off already since I always wake-up with dry nappies. Now, I only wear one when I know I’ll be away from home for along time like when I go to the mall, the grocery or to a friend’s birthday party. Oftentimes, I even forget that I’m wearing one. LOL! Well, one things for sure, I know when will I be ready…In my own time! | |
| MULTIPLE ABILITIES | and DEVELOPMENT TOUCHSTONES |
| PHYSICAL/MOVEMENT | Full of energy! She likes to jump on the bed, run around, be chased, go up and down the stairs, shout, lie on the floor…hhmmm, what else? She’s a TODDLER, what more can I say? |
| LANGUAGE | She talks a lot, even talks to herself! She would utter along sentences no one would understand. Her sentences are always self- directed "Adri go to playground, please" , "Go to Mall, Mama!", "We-we in the potty Adri". The only pronoun she knows is "ME" and only in this context: Mommy: "Who wants to go to Jollibee?" Adri: "Meeeeeeeeeee!" (with both hands raised way-up in the sky!) |
| MENTAL/VISUAL/ SPATIAL | As I always say, Adri’s memory is excellent and repetition is the key. She can remember things she saw or hear even
weeks before and would relate it to something she’s doing. She sings a lot too…and out loud! She sings to her toys. There are even times when she would change the lyrics of the song as in the case of "Twinkle,Twinkle little MOON!" and would laugh out loud. We always play "Correct Me" wherein I will deliberately change the lyrics and she would say "No,no" and would shout out the correct answer! Her favorite activities includes: reading, forming puzzles, staking Duplo blocks, Playdoh…creating a mess! |
| LOGIC & NUMBERS | >Likes to count, count and count…she can count 1 to 20, though a little confused with thirteen and nineteen Asks the "Big This" instead of the "Big Why". This could be anything she sees...on books, TV, magazines, outside the door…anything! Sometimes, she just likes to ask even though I know she knows what it is - Got the concept that asking questions means getting answers. |
| EMOTIONAL | She is definitely making her feelings clear and known now, though she can’t really articulate her reasons she has certain
preferences in everything; she wants to scoop her water with a spoon and sprinkle it everywhere, wants to wear her Big Bird shirt (if it’s not in the laundry), Barney
panties, noodles, chocolates, animal crackers. Her sense of self is a challenge to us specially when some choices are not appropriate, that’s when tantrums set in (okey, sometimes we do give in, we admit). But we always want to give her choices whenever possible. |
| SOCIAL | Playing with kids her age is no problem. We often go to the nearest mall on weekends, where she gets to meet new kids. Best places for her are Ever, SM Commonwealth and SM Megamall - where Toy Kingdom and Kids-at-Work are. Her favorites are the slide (no matter how high it is!), walk-in inflatable bear with balloon, swim ball, and those token rides. |
